1. Install FTP program
- Filezilla is the FTP program we use and recomend.
- You can download Filezilla from: http://filezilla-project.org/
- Click the Download Filezilla client button.
- Choose the version that fits your Operating system.
- Save the file to your desktop.
- After the download has finished run the .exe file that should now be on your desktop.
- All the default options should be selected.
2. Add your site to your FTP program
- Launch Filezilla, an icon should have been placed on your desktop or you can find it by going to All Programs > Filezilla FTP Client.
- Click on "Open Site Manager" icon in the upper left corner.
- Click the "New Site" button in Site manager window.
- You will need to contact dBS in order to retrieve your specific FTP settings.
- Enter your Host website address - Example: www.drivenbytheson.com
- Select Normal from the drop down menu next to Logontype
- Enter your username in the User field.
- Enter your password in the password field.
- Click the connect button when finished.
- If all information has been entered correctly the Site manager window will close and a few lines of text will show up at the top of the screen ending in "Directory Listing Successful".
- You should be able to see the files associated with your website in the right hand column.
3. Upload Files using FTP
- Once you have the directory you want to upload files into open.
- Drag the files you want to upload into the directory.
- *NOTE - Be sure not to drag the files onto any of the folder icons or names in that directory or your files will be placed within that folder instead of the folder that you have open.
