How To Create A New Page In Joomla!

  1. Login to you're sites administrative panel.  (www.yoursite.com/administrator)
  2. Roll over the Content button on the main menu.
  3. Click on Article Manager.
  4. Click on the New button in the upper right hand corner.
  5. Add an Article Title and Alias which can be the same name.
  6. Choose a Section and a Category.
  7. Type or paste your text into the Wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor.  Note: You may want to paste text into WordPad or Notepad to remove any word formatting then paste the text into Joomla.
  8. Make any additional format changes.
  9. Click the Save button.

Now you need to link your new article to a menu:

  1. Roll over the "Menus" button on the administrative panel main.
  2. Click on "Main Menu" or which ever menu you want to add a menu item to.
  3. Click the New button in the upper right hand corner.
  4. Select Articles from the list on the left.
  5. Select Article Layout from the sub menu.
  6. Enter a title.  This is the text that will show up in the button.  Example:  Home, Services, etc.
  7. Alias can be the same as the title.
  8. Under Parent Item:  If you want the button to show up in the top level of the menu leave Top selected.  If you want it to show up in the sub menu select the upper level button that you want the new button to show under.
  9. Under Parameters – Basic click the Select button.
  10. Choose the article you want the button to link to.
  11. Click the save button in the upper right hand corner.
  12. Check the live site to make sure that your button is displaying correctly and linking correctly.
